Today, a Union Pacific train hit and killed a person in Kingwood. The person was sitting on the tracks, so it sadly looks like a suicide. Sadly, an almost identical case happened here in Spring 2014.
I had only stumbled on this by accident; I first saw the train while on the railroad crossing and I immediately got ready to catch the train. But when the train didn't come and a news helicopter circled above, I figured something was wrong. I then drove by the train and figured what had happened due to all the emergency vehicles around. This is just devastating because not only the person chose to end his temporary problems with a permanent solution, but now the train crew has to live with the memory of this ordeal. This train had the first UP SD70M trailing and I was glad to have finally seen it, but I would rather not have caught the unit than to have this happen. Please let this be a lesson on life: life is too precious to end quickly, seemingly large problems will not last forever, and suicide's effects are too devastating for your loved ones, friends, and community.
